Delete your OpenWorld account
App: OpenWorld · Developer: OdobGames
com.odobgames.openworld
This page explains how to permanently delete your OpenWorld account and what happens to your data. There are two ways to request it: from inside the app, or by email if you no longer have the app installed.
Option 1 — Request deletion without the app (by email)
If you have uninstalled OpenWorld or cannot sign in, send a deletion request by email from the address associated with your account:
Email 13odob27@gmail.com.
Include in the email:
- The subject line “Account deletion request”.
- The email address or @username of the OpenWorld account to delete.
We use the sending address to verify the request belongs to you. If it does not match the account, we may ask for confirmation before deleting.
Option 2 — Delete from inside the app
- Open OpenWorld and sign in.
- Tap the Profile tab (bottom navigation bar).
- Tap Edit profile.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete my account.
- Confirm with Delete permanently.
You are signed out immediately, and your account is queued for permanent deletion. This cannot be undone — there is no way to cancel or restore the account afterwards.
How long it takes
Deletion completes within 24 hours of the request. The deletion job runs automatically once a day, and your account is removed on its next run. You are signed out as soon as you confirm, but your profile and any content that has not already expired stay visible to other signed-in users until that run completes.
What is deleted
When your request is processed, all of the following are permanently erased:
| Data | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Your login | Your authentication credential — email/password or linked Google sign-in. You can no longer sign in with it. |
| Your profile | Account record and settings, public profile, and your blocked-users list. |
| Your @username | The username reservation is released. |
| Posts and reels | Every post and reel you created, together with the comments and likes on them. |
| Stories | Every story you created. |
| Direct chats | Your friend chat threads and all messages in them. |
| Social graph | Friendships, pending friend requests, and follows — in both directions, so you also disappear from other people’s friend and follower lists. Your membership in any group chat is removed too; a group you were the last member of is deleted with it. |
| Notifications | Your entire notification history. |
| Photos and videos | Your uploaded media is removed from our media host, Cloudinary, by an automated cleanup that runs daily. Your avatar and banner are removed on the same run that deletes your account. Media attached to content is removed on a fixed schedule counted from when you uploaded it, not from your deletion request: chat images within 1 hour, stories within 48 hours, and post, reel and comment media within 8 days. Until its file is collected it is unreachable from the app, but a direct link to it would still load. |
Content is short-lived by design
Most OpenWorld content expires on its own, whether or not you delete your account. Posts and reels last 7 days, stories 24 hours, chat photos about 10 minutes, and random-chat conversations disappear within 24 hours — but they are not anonymous (see the Terms of Service, section 4). Deleting your account removes what has not already expired.
What is retained, and why
Moderation and abuse reports. If you were reported, or if a moderator recorded a case involving your account, that report or moderation case is kept after your account is deleted. It is retained as safety and legal evidence — so that records of harassment, abuse or illegal content are not erased by the reported user simply deleting their account. These records are kept separately from your profile and are not publicly visible.
These records currently have no automatic expiry: they are retained indefinitely unless deleted manually.
Billing anti-replay ledger. If you ever bought OpenWorld+, a single anti-fraud record of that purchase — a hashed copy of the Google Play purchase token together with the order id — is kept permanently. It holds no profile data, and it exists only to stop the same purchase being replayed or redeemed on another account. It survives account deletion.
In short: your personal content — profile, photos, videos, stories, posts, comments, friends and chat history — is removed within about 24 hours of your request. The moderation and safety records above are retained indefinitely as safety and legal evidence, and the billing ledger is retained permanently for fraud protection. Those two categories are the only things that outlive your account.
Short-lived traces. A few things mention you for a short time after deletion and then expire on their own, with no further action needed:
- Comments and likes you left on other people’s posts. These carry the display name and avatar you had when you wrote them, and are deleted together with the post they sit on — within 7 days.
- Group-chat messages you sent. Deleted within 24 hours of being sent, like all chat messages.
- Blocks other users placed on you. The entry stays on their account and stores only your account identifier, never your name or photo.
Apart from those, the moderation records above and the billing anti-replay ledger, nothing about you is kept. We do not retain a shadow copy of your profile, posts or messages for analytics or backups.
