Last updated: 17 July 2026
These Terms are an agreement between you and OdobGames (“we”, “us”) about your use of the OpenWorld app. By creating an account or using OpenWorld, you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and who receives it, and forms part of these Terms.
1. You must be 18 or older
OpenWorld is an 18+ app. It connects you with strangers and is not suitable for children. By using it you confirm you are at least 18.
At registration you give your date of birth, and the app takes a live selfie and checks it on your phone to see whether one clear, front-facing face is present and whether it looks like an adult’s. That image is never uploaded and never seen by anyone (see the Privacy Policy, section 2). Neither check is identity verification or certified age verification, and both can be wrong. If we learn you are under 18, we will delete your account.
2. Your account
- Keep your login credentials secure. You are responsible for what happens on your account.
- One person per account. Do not impersonate anyone else.
- Your date of birth is fixed at registration and cannot be changed afterwards.
- We may suspend or terminate an account that breaks these Terms — see section 9.
3. Rules of conduct
You agree not to use OpenWorld to:
- Post or send sexual content involving minors, or seek contact with minors. This is the most serious rule here. We ban permanently, retain the evidence, and report confirmed material to NCMEC and to the authorities. See our Child Safety Standards.
- Post or send sexual or pornographic content of any kind, or nudity — see the box below. OpenWorld is an 18+ app, but it is not an adult-content app, and sexual content is not allowed here.
- Harass, threaten, bully, stalk or incite violence against anyone.
- Post hate speech, or attack people over race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity or sexual orientation.
- Post content that is illegal where you are, or that promotes illegal activity.
- Share sexual content involving anyone who has not consented, including intimate images shared without permission.
- Impersonate another person, or misrepresent who you are in a way that deceives or harms people.
- Spam, advertise, run scams, phish, or solicit money from other users.
- Post someone else’s private information without their consent.
- Upload malware, or attack, overload or attempt to breach the app or its infrastructure.
- Use bots, scrapers, or modified copies of the app to access the service.
- Infringe anyone’s copyright or other rights.
No sexual content and no nudity — this one is absolute. OpenWorld being an 18+ app means it is not suitable for children. It does not mean it is a place for adult content. Sexual content is prohibited for everyone, and it stays prohibited even when every person involved is an adult and consents.
Specifically, do not post, send or stream:
- Nudity — exposed genitals, anus, buttocks or female breasts — in a post, reel, story, comment, profile photo, banner, or in any chat.
- Sexual acts, simulated sexual acts, or content whose main purpose is sexual arousal, including where the subject is clothed.
- Pornography of any kind, in any medium, including drawn, animated or AI-generated material.
- Sexually explicit text or audio, sexual harassment of a chat partner, or exposing yourself to someone in random chat.
- Solicitation — offering, advertising or requesting sexual services, sexual content, or paid sexual interaction.
- Links or handles pointing to sexual content elsewhere, including redirecting a chat partner to an adult site or platform.
This applies in private too. A direct message, a group chat and a random chat are covered by exactly the same rule as the public feed. “They said yes” and “it was private” are not exceptions.
We do not make artistic, educational or medical exceptions. Other platforms weigh context; we are a small developer and we are not equipped to adjudicate it reliably or quickly, so we apply one flat rule instead. Sexual content is removed and the account is actioned under section 9 — and where the content involves a minor, permanently banned and reported.
4. Random chat — read this before you use it
Random chat is NOT anonymous. Whether other people can identify you depends partly on their subscription, not only yours:
- A partner on the free version sees a masked nickname and a blurred photo.
- A partner with OpenWorld+ sees your real display name, your @username, your gender and your age.
- If you take OpenWorld+, your display name and photo are revealed to everyone, free users included. That public reveal is part of what OpenWorld+ is, not an accident — if you want to stay masked to free users, do not buy it.
Do not use random chat expecting to stay unidentified.
You also understand that:
- Random chat pairs you with someone you do not know, chosen automatically. We do not verify anyone’s identity, age or intentions beyond the account requirements in section 1.
- Nobody reviews chats in real time. A banned-word filter runs on messages, and free accounts are blocked from sharing contact details in random chat. Both of those run on your device, and a modified copy of the app can bypass them.
- Images are screened automatically, but not perfectly. A photo you send in chat is checked on your device before it uploads and is blocked if it is classified as sexual — the check fails closed, so an image it cannot check is refused rather than sent. It is not perfect and does not look for every kind of harmful content, so it is backed by reports and human review — see section 5.
- Our administrators can read random chat messages through a moderation panel, and can end a chat or send a moderation notice into it. Chats are not private from us.
- You should never share passwords, financial details, your home address or identity documents with someone you meet here.
- You use random chat at your own risk.
5. Moderation: what we actually check
We want to be straightforward about this, because it affects what you should share.
Images are screened automatically before they upload; videos are only sampled. Your posts, reels, stories, profile photo, banner and the photos you send in chat are checked on your device by an automated classifier before they leave your phone, and an image classified as sexual is blocked. That check fails closed: if it cannot run, the upload is refused rather than let through. A video is only frame-sampled — a few frames spread across the clip are checked, not the whole video — so sexual content that appears only between those frames is not caught automatically.
This automated check is not a guarantee. It looks for sexual imagery, not for every kind of illegal or harmful content, and it can be wrong in either direction. So image and video moderation on OpenWorld is also reactive: it depends on users reporting content and on us reviewing those reports.
This is exactly why the no-nudity rule in section 3 is absolute. The rule is not softened by the limits of that automated check — it is also enforced through reports and human review, and an account that posts sexual content is actioned under section 9 once we see it. Sexual content involving a minor is handled under our Child Safety Standards: permanent ban, evidence preserved, and confirmed material reported to NCMEC.
What else runs automatically: a banned-word filter on text, a block on free accounts sharing contact details in random chat, and the on-device face and age check on the registration selfie and on stickers you add. Nothing else is automated.
Report and Block are available on posts, reels, stories, profiles and every chat. Blocking hides that person from you and stops them being matched with you again. Reporting sends the account to us for review. Reports are how this app stays safe — please use them.
6. Your content
- You own what you post. These Terms do not transfer ownership of your content to us.
- You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce and display your content inside OpenWorld, for as long as that content exists on the service, purely so we can operate the app and show your content to other users. Nothing more — we do not use your content to advertise or promote OpenWorld outside the app, and we do not license it to anyone else.
- That licence ends when the content expires or you delete it, except for copies retained in moderation records under section 9 and the deletion lag described in the Privacy Policy, section 5.
- You confirm you have the rights to what you post.
- Music you add to a story or post is streamed from ccMixter under a Creative Commons Attribution licence and remains the property of its creator, who is credited in the app.
7. Your content expires — nothing here is permanent
OpenWorld is built around content that disappears. Posts and reels are deleted after 7 days, stories and chat messages after 24 hours, and photos sent in a chat after 10 minutes. Friendships persist; almost nothing else does. Deletion is carried out by a job that runs once a day, so it is not instantaneous — see the Privacy Policy, section 5, for the exact lag.
Ephemeral does not mean private. Assume anything you post or send can be screenshotted, recorded or copied before it expires. Once someone has a copy, we cannot take it back.
8. Ads and OpenWorld+
The free version of OpenWorld shows ads from Google AdMob, which may use your device’s advertising identifier. See the Privacy Policy, section 1.
OpenWorld+ is our paid upgrade. It removes ads and unlocks extra features, and it also publicly reveals your display name and photo as described in section 4. If offered, it is sold through Google Play, and Google’s payment terms apply to the transaction. Prices are shown in the app before you buy.
How your upgrade is applied. When you buy OpenWorld+, your purchase is verified automatically against Google Play and OpenWorld+ is activated on your account, usually within moments. If a purchase is still settling, Google may report it as pending, and it activates on its own once the payment clears. In the rare case that a completed purchase is not active on your account, contact us at 13odob27@gmail.com with your Google Play order number and we will activate it manually or help you obtain a refund. Refunds are otherwise handled under Google Play’s refund policy, and any statutory right of withdrawal you have under your local consumer law is unaffected.
Subscriptions renew until cancelled. Manage or cancel them in the Google Play Store, not in the app — deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
9. Enforcement, suspension and bans
- We may remove content, restrict features, suspend an account temporarily, or ban an account permanently, when we believe these Terms have been broken.
- For serious abuse we may also block the device used, so a banned person cannot immediately re-register on the same phone.
- Where conduct is serious or illegal, we record a moderation case that includes the account details and the evidence involved. These records are kept after the account is deleted, as safety and legal evidence, and are not on an automatic expiry timer. See the Privacy Policy, section 5.
- Sexual content involving minors results in a permanent ban, preservation of the evidence, a report of confirmed material to NCMEC, and a report to the authorities where the law requires it. Our full Child Safety Standards set out that process.
- Sexual content and nudity between adults are not criminal, but they are still prohibited (section 3) and are removed. Repeated or deliberate posting of sexual content is grounds for a permanent ban.
- If you believe we have acted wrongly, contact us at the address in section 15 and we will review it.
10. Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Edit profile → Delete my account, or without the app via our account deletion page. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. See the Privacy Policy, section 10, for what is erased and how long it takes.
We may also terminate your account under section 9, or if we discontinue the service.
11. Availability — no guarantees
OpenWorld is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied. In particular we do not promise that:
- the app will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free;
- content will always be delivered, or will always expire exactly on schedule;
- other people will behave lawfully or treat you well; or
- the app will continue to exist — we may change or discontinue it, and because content here is short-lived by design, you should not use OpenWorld as storage for anything you want to keep.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, OdobGames is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of OpenWorld — including anything that results from your contact with another user. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or 20 USD.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, you keep all mandatory rights under the consumer law of your country of residence, and nothing here overrides them.
13. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to hold OdobGames harmless from claims brought by a third party arising out of content you posted or conduct of yours that broke these Terms or the law. This does not apply to consumers to the extent your local law says otherwise.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the law of the country in which OdobGames is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts where your law gives you that right.
15. Contact
Questions about these Terms, a report, or an appeal against enforcement:

16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If we make a material change we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, tell you in the app. Continuing to use OpenWorld after a change means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not accept them, delete your account.
